Guidelines for Opening Online NRE/NRO Accounts

We are glad to introduce the Online Account Opening System to our beloved NRIs who wish to open NRE/NRO accounts, by just a click from any part of the globe.

Guidelines for Opening Online Accounts

KYC Documents required for NRE/NRO a/c opening (all are mandatory)

  • Valid passport (first page and address page)
  • Valid VISA/ Resident ID/ OCI card
  • Overseas address proof- Company ID/ Letter from the employer/ Offer letter/ Overseas Driving License/ Utility bills (documents provided should contain the full address mentioned as in the application)
  • Original account statement (latest 3 months) of Overseas Bank or NRE account with any bank in India with concerned bank’s seal. (In case of online account statement, attestation from bank officials is must)/ An account payee cheque of existing NRE account of the applicant with any Bank in India drawn in his name for a minimum of Rs.5000/-
  • PAN CARD

Mandatory attestation of KYC documents

KYC documents mentioned in (1), (2), & (3) should be certified by any one of the following

  • Notary Public abroad
  • Court Magistrate/Judge
  • Indian Embassy/ Consulate General in the country where non-resident customer resides
  • Authorised officials of overseas branches of Scheduled Commercial Banks registered in India
  • Branches of overseas banks with whom Indian banks have relationship

  • Fill all the Primary details (such as Name, Email ID, Country of Residence, mobile number, Passport number & preferred branch) and press "Continue".
  • Unique Application Reference ID will be generated which is to be noted for future communication.
  • Continue filling up the application details step by step with the Reference ID
  • Step 1: Basic Information: The applicants have to select the account category and mode of operation,
  • Step 2: Personal details: The applicants have to select whether he/she is an existing customer and then to provide the personal details (such as Date of Birth, Country of Birth, Gender, Name of Father, Name of Mother, Education, Nationality, Purpose of account, Occupation, Marital Status, Resident Status & Communication Details.)
  • Step 3: Identity Details: The applicants have to enter the details of Passport, Pan Card number (If any), Visa/Resident Permit/Work Permit - \Optional, Overseas Identification Number(Optional), AADHAR No (Optional), Voters ID No(Optional), and Driving License (Optional),
  • Step 4: Additional Information: The applicant have to select either "Yes" or "No" to the Value added Services such as Debit Card, SIB SMS & SIBerNET (Internet Banking) and also have to furnish the nominee details If any. after the completion of each step the applicant have to click "Save & Continue" for moving to the next step.
  • Send Welcome kit: Message pop-up stating that “Welcome kit will be dispatched to customer’s overseas address only. Account will be opened with Total Freeze. The freeze shall be lifted only on receipt of the signed acknowledgements (scanned copy) attached in the welcome kit from the customers registered email id and after confirming that Initial Remittance to this account is done from his/her own KYC complied NRE/NRO account in India/Foreign account.” The applicant will be prompted to recheck the data and click to “Submit”.
  • Incomplete fields (mandatory) will be notified in red at the at top of the web page.
  • Applicant will be prompted to recheck the data and click to “Submit”.
  • A successful submission message will appear.
  • After the successful submission of the application, the applicant will receive an Email guiding to the next step with the link of Account Opening Form.

  • Send the scanned copy of the duly signed forms along with the below mentioned KYC documents to [email protected]
  • On receipt of scanned documents we shall scrutinize the same and if the documents are in order we shall initiate with account opening process and we shall proceed with assigning of the M/s. DHL Express India Pvt Ltd pick up for collection of account opening forms (hard copies) from you. Note: The DHL Express India Pvt Ltd pick up facility is free of cost.

  • Account will be opened with Total Freeze.
  • On receipt of hardcopies of all the documents and if the documents are in order the Credit freeze shall be lifted for transferring or crediting the initial funding in the account and the welcome kit containing non personalized Cheque book, Debit Card & Welcome Kit acknowledgement will be dispatched to your overseas address.
  • Once you receive the Welcome kit you are required to send the signed welcome Kit acknowledgements (scanned copy) to [email protected] from your registered email id
  • The Debit freeze shall be lifted only on receipt of the signed acknowledgements (scanned copy) attached in your welcome kit and after confirming the first credit to this account from your own KYC complied NRE/NRO Account in India/Foreign account.

Note: If the documents are not received within 45 days or any discrepancy found in the received documents is not corrected, the account closure process will be initiated and customer will be informed about the same and account will be put to closure within next 15 days. On 60th day the account will be closed automatically if required documents are not delivered to NSC and account is in total freeze.

If the applicant have already registered the primary details and he/she wish to continue filling up the application. Click on "Already Registered" link and enter the Reference ID (which is generated to registered Email) and Passport number and Click "Submit". The applicant can continue the account opening process from where he/she has stopped.

1. Applicant should make sure that all entries are correct before final “Submit”.
